Brief About Client :

  • Carestream Health, formerly Eastman Kodak Company’s Health Group, is an independent subsidiary of Onex Corporation which is one of Canada’s
    largest corporations.
  • Products include: laser printers with dry film technology, Dry View laser imaging film, computed radiography systems, digital radiography systems and
    other diagnostic imaging systems for the medical and dental imaging fields.
  • Digital imaging technologies include the DRX-1 series which allows a wireless connection between the digital X-ray detector and computer system
  •  Medical and Dental Products
      • Radiology department products for X-ray products and digital image processing, including: Digital radiography rooms and mobile/portable X-ray for general X-ray; Computed Radiography for general X-ray and mammography applications; and X-ray film for general and mammography applications.
      •  Medical printing products , including: Laser printers using dry film technology.
  • Non-Medical Products
      •  Contract manufacturer / Precision coating offerings, including coating; pilot coating and development; hard coating; PET manufacturing; TPU film manufacturing; solution preparation and delivery; analytical and quality testing; and converting and packaging.

Challenges

  • The client was operating in multiple countries, country-specific websites were hosted on the same Sitecore instance. The new website had to leverage the existing Sitecore version (8.2) to achieve the personalization requirements.
  • Implementing a new UX design for the website to focus on the customer experience, and make it fast and easy for web visitors to find relevant product information as they were using Lucene Search Provider.
  • Supporting a complex technology stack— the current environment was multi-site & multilingual with region specific websites.
  •  Keeping information consistent across websites by establishing a central repository for all product information
  •  Delivering optimal and consistent brand experience across regions.
  •  As the client was non-technical ,it was difficult to Manage the content in the Sitecore CMS
  •  Deployment process was quite complex as they were doing it manually by FTP providers.

Solution

  • The Sitecore Experience platform was used to develop the website as it provides the functionality needed to address the key requirements including best-in-class visual design and IA, personalization of content delivery, user-friendly content and publishing.
  •  Installed, configured and implemented Solr search for Sitecore and MongoDB installation for xDB so that the Users information can be collected and personalized to provide personalized experience to end user
  •  Followed the Helix guidelines and naming conventions strictly to prevent the conflicts with other sites in the same instance.
  •  Implemented Workflow to properly manage the content before publishing into Delivery Server.
  •  Implemented Auto CI/CD Pipeline so that the deployment process will be smoother and versioned for roll back.

Result

  • The Website performance was faster then before.
  • AS the UX was improved ,the end users were more towards website and then can easily found the related products in a faceted manner.
  •  As Workflow was implemented, No unused/irrelevant content was published to Website and consistency of content was improved.
  •  As Auto CI/CD was configured, the code quality and consistency was managed in a proper way with roll back option on each production deployment.
  •  As rules was implemented ,the security towards CMS content was improved and the activity of content Author can be tracked.
